  • Explore music with your little one through songs, games, and stories! Play, sing, wiggle, and learn all about instruments.

  • This is the place for young rockstars to gain confidence as they jam with friends! They'll learn basics on piano, guitar, and drums as they explore rhythm, music symbols, and games. One of our most popular classes!

  • Your budding musician will take the first steps toward learning piano, and play a new song (and game!) each week. They'll learn: rhythm, finger numbers, keyboard layout, the music alphabet, and more.

  • Students help choose songs as they learn basics of singing, including how to find beautiful sound, breathing techniques, singing vowels, basic solfege, and more.

  • Aspiring guitar players will take first steps toward learning guitar, and play a new song (and game!) each week. They'll learn about rhythm basics, strumming, chords, the music alphabet, and more.

  • Young violinists will explore the violin, learning about the strings, bow, note names, and more. Learn a new song (and game!) each week.

  • Our lab classes are the perfect blend of private instruction and group activities. Students will learn at their own pace, and enjoy activities with friends.

  • PIANO, GUITAR, or VIOLIN

Semi-private lessons for beginner or intermediate students age 10-18. Students learn at their own pace and play music they enjoy! During each hour-long class, each student has a private lesson, guided practice time, and a music theory lesson.

  • Piano, Guitar, Violin, Voice, Harp

Private lessons are reserved for adults and for advancing students. 1-2 semesters of Lab or Deluxe should be completed first. Please check with us before signing up to make sure private lessons are the right fit!

Listen to what our parents say!

My daughter loves her piano lessons at Muletown Music! She always comes out with a smile. Her teacher is one of the kindest and most patient people we’ve met. I’m so thankful to have them in our community!
— Caroline

This is our second summer at Muletown School of Music! We simply love the introduction to music that our 5yo is getting — it’s no pressure (on the students or the parents); it’s super fun; and our kiddo is soooo pumped to go to every class. He loves that he gets to play piano, guitar, and drums in each class (Little Jammers). Based on our experience, we would recommend it to any parent wanting a positive, learning-filled activity for their kids!
— Liz

Muletown Music is top notch! The owners and teachers deeply care about their students and the community that they are serving. It’s truly an honor to send my kids to muletown music! We are a family of musicians and it’s so awesome to give our children a solid foundation!
— Felicia

About the Owners

Kenton and Rebekah Lanier both grew up loving music, and music is how they got to know each other! They met as music students in college, became good friends after finishing school, and got married when Kenton was finishing his master’s degrees in viola and musicology (a fancy word for music history) at the University of Missouri Kansas-City.

They spent a few years in Kenton’s hometown Kansas City teaching music to kids, performing with orchestras, conducting, leading church music, and playing lots of music together. Kenton plays viola (his favorite), violin, guitar, piano, and ukulele; Rebekah plays piano and harp, and sings. Rebekah grew up in middle TN, and they settled in Columbia in 2021 to start a brand-new music school and raise their family.

When they aren’t playing music with kids at the studio, you’ll find Kenton and Rebekah loving on their two young kids, Jordan and Sadie, or spending time with their church family. They all love being outdoors, cheering for the Chiefs and Royals, and everyone enjoys Kenton’s favorite hobby: LEGO building!
